Barnstorming for Jobs and Growth
Rick Perry promotes the Texas Miracle.

Austin, Texas
When President Obama arrived in Austin three years ago, Texas governor Rick Perry greeted him with a four-page letter asking for help in securing the border with Mexico. “He was not particularly enthralled with my theatrics,” Perry says. The president didn’t bother to respond. Perry heard later from a White House aide.
Obama returned to Austin in early May on the first leg of his new “Middle Class Jobs
and Opportunity” tour. This time Perry met him at the airport without delivering a message. Instead he put an ad in the Austin American-Statesman: “Mr. President—Take a look at our successful ‘Texas Model.’ ”

Obama may ignore that advice, but Perry says Obama must be aware of the state’s booming economy. “He wouldn’t have come here if he weren’t aware of the success,” Perry told me. “Where do you start your jobs tour in America? You go to the most successful place in the country. That’s Texas.”
Perry has no illusions about converting Obama to the free market, small government model that’s worked in Texas. “The president is not the most open individual in the world when it comes to looking at another point of view,” he says. Obama “is a true believer in socialist policies, and to take a step away from those would be devastating to his psyche.”
So forget Obama. Perry, in his 13th year as governor, has begun a bigger crusade to persuade the country that what has worked in Texas and other Republican-led states will work everywhere. “I want to engage America in this blue state / red state discussion,” he says. This may sound grandiose, but he’s not kidding.

COMMENT FROM THE EDITOR:
If you come to Texas, come for the liberty FIRST, and the jobs SECOND.
If you would rather have a better job than liberty and a gun, stay in LA or Norwalk or Beverly Hills. If you want a free ride on Texans' and Tejanos' tax payments, keep you lazy butt right there in Chicago please. You will be deeply resented in Texas if you come here with the attitude you will fix Texas while you reap the benefits here. And, contrary to what the Liberal press tells you, Tejanos and Anglo Texas share this attitude. I have talked to a good many Tejanos who reject the title Hispanic. They are Texas, spelled Tejanos in Spanish.

OREO COOKIES FOR YOUR COFFEE BREAK
There are few people in America old enough to remember the days before the Oreo cookie. As a kid I loved them. We do not eat many these days because the ingredients on the label reads like a short novel, when it should have a maximum of seven ingredients.
But, you may still indulge Oreo cookies, and if you do you must wonder if there is a high tech way to open and separate the two halves of an Oreo. Kids of all ages have been trying to solve this issue forever. I certainly did my own research by opening just about every Oreo I ever ate. My Mom would laugh at me, but all discoveries come with sacrifices and misunderstanding by the masses.
So, finally, a man has invented an Oreo gun which separates the two halves.
Thus..........
Only at this blog do we bring you the latest technology in coffee drinking and coffee break culture.

SOME COFFEE BREAK GENTLENESS
Here is something happy from Europe. I have traveled the trams of Amsterdam. They are so small, and they wander all about in traffic as if the rails move around to the tram can get through. We have no trams in the USA, which is sad. They let you almost touch the scenery as you pass it.
So, here is a bus driver on his way to work in Germany or The Netherlands, can't figure out which.

USED COFFEE FOR YOUR GARDEN
I am not promoting rabid recycling, but I know this is a good idea.
Barracuda Coffee in Richland, Washington is recycling their coffee grounds. I know. You are wondering if they are trying to make more coffee with used grounds, right? Well, that is treason to a coffee drinker.
No, they are giving the coffee grounds to their customers to use on their gardens. Coffee grounds are probably the best way to get rid of pill bugs (rolly polly bugs). It sure works for us in the Hill Country of Texas.
Coffee grounds are used to repel insects away from peas in the photo at right>
You can also use unused coffee that got old and tasteless, or coffee being sold cheap because it is old.
The only down side is that as you accumulate the used grounds they end up sitting in some container destroying the ambiance of your home.
Cold coffee that might be thrown out can also be put on plants to acidify the soil. This is usually only important if you live in the Southwest of the USA.

STARBUCKS LOWERING THE STANDARD
Boozers do not have the same level of articulation when they stand with one foot on the brass rail, and their elbow on the bar. Coffee has always, since hundreds of years ago in Europe, been the beverage of high thoughts and quiet conversation.
So, get out your happy manual so you can roar and keep up with the inebriated conversation, at least if you are addicted to Starbucks.

HOT BLACK COFFEE
I will soon be sharing my zeal for the blessed brew. I roast my own coffee from green beans, and I have lived in the country where coffee was first discovered, Ethiopia.
So, bookmark this page, and you should soon see some curious information on Coffee.
